The Southeast Local Immigration Partnership (SELIP)

Local Immigration Partnerships (LIPs) are federally funded initiatives by Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) that support the successful integration and retention of newcomers at the community level.

LIPs are indirect settlement services that provide a collaborative framework, bringing together key local stakeholders—including service providers, municipalities, employers, and community organizations—to strengthen local capacity and align community efforts to support immigration retention.

Through coordination, shared planning, and alignment of services, LIPs help ensure that newcomers have access to the supports they need to settle, participate, and thrive in their new communities.

The Southeast Local Immigration Partnership (SELIP)

The Southeast Regional Service Commission (SERSC) is the holder of the funding agreement and is accountable to IRCC. SELIP brings together immigration stakeholders, newcomers, the business community, and municipal partners across the Southeast region of New Brunswick to foster collaboration and co-create strategic partnerships that strengthen communities.  The SELIP provides indirect services and plays a coordinating role by:

  • Connecting organizations
  • Sharing information and identifying gaps
  • Aligning efforts and actions across sectors
  • Building strategic partnerships
  • Strengthening collaboration across the immigration ecosystem

The SELIP brings together approximately 35 organizations working collaboratively to support growth:

  • A strong, diverse and welcoming community
  • Francophone immigration
  • Newcomer entrepreneurship
  • Skilled workforce to meet labor market needs
  • International Student Attraction and Professional Integration

Vision

The vision of SELIP is to make the integration and retention of immigrants a key priority in supporting the mission and mandate of the SERSC — to make Southeast New Brunswick the best possible place to live, work, and thrive.

Mission

The SELIP is a collaborative forum of diverse partners committed, through dialogue and consultation, to making the Southeast region a growing, inclusive, and welcoming region.

As a newcomer-focused entity, the mission of the SELIP is to improve newcomer attraction, settlement, integration, and retention in the Southeast region.
