[OLD] Southeast Labour Market Partnership

Established in April 2020, the Southeast Labour Market Partnership (SLMP) was created to provide oversight, direction, and accountability, for the implementation of the 2019 – 2024 Workforce Strategy for Greater Moncton and Southeast New Brunswick. The Strategy’s foundation is supported by four core pillars: To Connect, to be Inclusive, to be Informative, and to be Collaborative.

Established in April 2020, the SLMP was founded to oversee, direct, and ensure accountability for the implementation of the 2019–2024 Workforce Strategy for Greater Moncton. In January 2023, the Province of New Brunswick mandated the extension of the Regional Service Commission’s services to 12 municipalities: Moncton, Riverview, Dieppe, Fundy Albert, Strait Shores, Cap Acadie, Shediac, Maple Hills, Memramcook, Tantramar, Salisbury, and Three Rivers. Recognizing the expanded economic landscape, the Council reviewed current initiatives for potential regional expansion in March 2023.

Fostering Collaboration and Impact

Our partnership prioritizes collaboration, strategically facilitating
knowledge exchange to promote innovation.

Through the SLMP:

  • Member organizations learn from one another and invite guests to speak abouttheir relevant projects in our region.
  • Share insights and access new perspectives and ideas to enhance our region.
  • Leverage complementary strengths, pool resources and risks, and access new markets.
  • Foster innovation and build trust to harness collaboration’s power, elevating the SENB Labour Market efforts.

Together, we aim to:

  • Establish core principles.
  • Unlock opportunities.
  • Drive innovation.
  • Foster sustainable growth in our rapidly expanding market.

To maximize impact, the SLMP is streamlining initiatives, reducing the number of projects to enable our group to focus on delivering high-impact results. This approach ensures effectiveness, alignment, and a more significant contribution to the SENB Labour Market. Looking ahead, the SLMP will continue to refine and focus its initiatives, ensuring that our efforts result in meaningful and lasting change for our region.

Key Objectives

In January 2024, the SLMP shifted focus to address the current and future needs of the Southeast New Brunswick (SENB) region by focusing on three key objectives:

1.
Improving retention performance for newcomers.
2.
Increasing workforce participation across Southeastern New Brunswick.
3.
Evaluating the top critical workforce sectors in relation to employment growth in our region.

Governing Structure

The SLMP is guided by a structured governance framework of two working groups and the SLMP Council. This framework is designed to ensure effective collaboration, strategic planning, and the achievement of our key objectives.

Working Groups

SENB Current Needs

Focus: Enhancing existing projects for the 2024-2025 period.

Role: Collaborate with partners to address immediate needs and improve ongoing initiatives.

SENB Future Needs

Focus: Planning initiatives for the 2026-2030 period.

Role: Engage in strategic planning and information sharing to develop future-focused projects.

Decision-Making Process

Review and Evaluation

The working groups assess and evaluate potential initiatives.

Approval by Working Groups

Once an initiative is approved at the working group level, it is forwarded to the SLMP Council.

Council Approval

The SLMP Council reviews the proposals and makes final decisions on approval.

SLMP Council

The SLMP Council provides overarching governance and strategic direction for the partnership. It ensures that the initiatives align with our updated vision and objectives, guiding the SLMP towards a new strategy for 2026-2030.

By leveraging the expertise and collaboration of these working groups and the Council, the SLMP is committed to driving impactful and sustainable development for the region.
